Men's League Rules - 2001 |
|
Format |
|
Two Man Net Matchplay |
|
Points |
|
Twenty-two (22) team point from combination of hole-by-hole
match play and 9
hole net score match points.
- Eleven (11) points per player
- Nine (9) hole-by-hole points
- Two (2) net total round points
|
|
Point Earning
Method |
|
- 1. Each team player is allowed one point for a win per hole,
1/2 point for a hole halved and zero points for a hole lost. Given this, a player could win 9 points in the hole
-by-hole competition.
- Each player is allowed two points f or a 9 hole net score, 1 point for a 9
hole net tie and zero
points far a 9 hole net loss.
- Added together, each player
can possibly win 11 points for his team. The team could possibly win 22 points. The combination of
both team's points will equal 22, with the exception of a forfeit.
|
|
Failure to show for
match |
|
Failure to show for match is a forfeit. The team forfeiting the match will receive zero points and the remaining team will receive 14 points. The remaining team must play their league round to receive the 14 points. |
|
Playing Competitors |
|
- Lower handicapper of the team plays the lower handicapper of the opposing team.
- Full handicap stroke allotment, with the lower handicap player giving
strokes on the progressively more difficult holes.
- There will be no playing the match without playing with your opponents (i.e. no scorecard matching). Please be a cooperative league member and make a sincere effort to communicate with your upcoming opponent. Nothing is gained by taking a
"hard-line" with opponents. As this is the first year
of the league, cooperation is the essential element in its success.
|
|
Handicap |
|
- Each participant must have a current USGA handicap.
- Players may purchase one in the
Proshop.
- Players may use a current USGA handicap from another course. In that event, the player is asked to give the Proshop their GHIN number so that the club can access the current handicap when making out each
week's scorecards.
- All league (and other rounds, for that matter) must be entered into the MGA computer, so that handicaps are accurate and up-to-date.
- If there are questions about how to accurately enter the correct scores, ask at the Proshop desk.
|
|
Schedule |
|
- Teams are expected to play their scheduled opponents between 4 PM and 6 PM on each Tuesday.
- The default time for play is 5 PM in the event that neither team is able to get in touch with the other.
- Players may sign up for a tee time a week in advance if both teams are able
to communicate during the previous week. Having the tee time established
one week prior will alleviate the possibility of not being able
to get in touch during the week.
- Failure to contact the opponent in order to schedule a different time, or failure to show up for match at the default time of 5 PM, will result in a forfeit.
- A team may play one player against two in the event that his partner is unable to play an a given league day.
- A team may get a substitute to play in the
place of one of its members. That substitute
must have a current USGA handicap.
|
|
Rainouts |
|
The Proshop at
Southbrook will determine whether a league day has been "washed out".
Generally, the weather will need to be severe between the league hours
of 4 PM to 6 PM, or appear to be a long-term bad weather situation (i.e. all day rain, etc.) |
|
Scorecard Procedure |
|
- Scorecards will be prepared in advance.
- Prior to the match, pick up the scoreboard from the Proshop.
- Following the match, verify the results of the match, sign and turn in to the Proshop.
|
|
Rules |
|
- USGA Rules will apply.
- Frequently, the USGA rules are abused. If there are questions about the rules, or a procedure (i.e. out of bounds, water hazards, test balls, etc.),
play two balls and get a ruling when the round is finished.
- If one or more players in the group have a USGA Rule Book, consult it when determining how to play a rule in question. USGA Rule Books are available in the
Proshop.
|
|
Standings |
|
Standings will posted on the bulletin board each week prior to that week's play. |
